Dear Dr Amal
On July 6th 2010 I was invited by WHO to Geneva as representative of India to take part in planning the strategies for 4D program(Developing Donations from Deceased Donors). 14 nations along with WHO officials took part in the day long program. It was to prepare a blue print for increasing the donations which will be approved by the WHO assembly which then will be sent to all the member countries of UN.I really felt proud that India was 1of the 14 countries which is performing DD transplants. Pakistan, Balkan countries, China, & Korea which were also taking part in discussions had hardly experience in DD transplants. One of the issues which came up was Govt Support.During that discussions I was very vocal & cited the Tamilnadu success.Till Year 2008 India was performing on an average100 kidney tr from DD Between Oct 2008 till Dec 2009 TN alone contributed more tha 150 kidney transplants from DD program. The remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the Govt Support that too whithout your health secretaries who could impliment the program so smoothly. This was well appriciated & put as one of the key points in the blue print. I wish all the states could have the govt support that you at TN enjoying.
With Regards
